The Maine Chapter of the International Appalachian Trail will hold its 29th Annual Meeting live and in-person at Mt. Chase Lodge, on the shores of Upper Shin Pond on May 19-21, 2023

Friday, May 19th

8:30 pm                             Dark skies viewing – informal and weather dependent

Saturday, May 20th

7:00 am – 8:00 am          Breakfast / Registration

8:30 am – 9:15 am          Welcome, IAT year-in-review and Annual Meeting – Don Hudson

9:15 am – 9:45 am          Update on Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument – Mark Wimmer                                                and Christopher ‘Dewey’ Loft

9:45 am – 10:00 am        Break

10:00 am – 10:30 am      Update on the Friends of Katahdin Woods & Waters NM – Friends staff

10:30 am – 11:00 am      Natural resource monitoring in Baxter State Park – Nava Tabak

11:00 am – 11:45 am      Alpine plants on Katahdin and beyond – Don Hudson

12:00 pm – 1:00pm         Lunch

1:15 pm – 4:00 pm          [Two afternoon hiking options will be determined as conditions in the                                                        woods become clearer in early May]

Space is limited at Mt. Chase Lodge. If you’d like to stay at the Lodge, visit their website to get a good overview of accommodations. If you are interested in staying in one of the five suites in the Lodge, please reach out to Amy (coordinator@maineiat.org). We will fill these rooms on a first-come-first-serve basis. Otherwise, you can reserve a cabin directly at either Mt. Chase Lodge or Shin Pond Village. Camping will also be available at Shin Pond Village. Those planning to stay in a cabin, tent or RV site at Shin Pond Village should contact them by calling 207-528-2900 or visiting their website.
