Cross Country Skiing on the IAT in Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument-January 2026 If you do not get an email that says you have registered, please email coordinator@maineiat.org Title: Cross Country Skiing on the IAT in Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument Leaders: Elaine and Eric Hendrickson Date: Saturday, January 24, 2026, 10:00 AM at the Matagamon Gate Parking lot at the North End of Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, return time 4:00 PM Route options depending on the group and snow conditions: Both follow slightly rolling terrain Ski the Loop from Matagamon Gate to the Old River Road along the East Branch of the Penobscot River and back on the IAT to the parking lot, 3 miles Ski from Matagamon Gate along the IAT to Haskell Hut and Haskell Pitch and back, 10 miles return What to Bring: Bring your own x-country skis and poles. Dress for the weather in layers. Bring a backpack with water, snacks, lunch, heavier jacket to put on at lunch, extra mittens, and hat. Optional handwarmers and toe warmers.
